About the YFRP Audience

We surveyed our students and received some great insights about their challenges, motivations, etc. that we think you may find helpful.

Here are our most common answers we received to a couple key questions in the survey:

Why did you choose to enroll in YFRP?

Illustrative of Emotional States

  • Confidence
  • Comprehensive; Want comprehensive knowledge from a pro (as compared to whatever free pithy stuff they might find in blog posts or whatever)
  • Make the real estate investment process less scary
  • To not be overwhelmed
  • Wanting to learn from someone they could trust and knowing paula is that person due to her knowledge and experience (and often their long-time familiarity with her from the podcast, etc)
  • Knew they couldn't learn it all on their own

Illustrative of Interests

  • Looking for a logical, scientific, systematic sort of method; getting clarity and confidence vs. just throwing spaghetti at the wall / flying by the seat of their pants and hoping it works out
  • Have been interested in real estate investment for a long time but haven't pulled the trigger yet
  • Real estate investment as a vehicle for financial freedom / FI
  • Interested in real estate and considering doing it, and wanted to take the course to find out if it was for them
  • Wanting to learn more about out of state investing because they live in a high cost of living area
  • Diversifying their investments / income
  • Expand existing knowledge and fact-checking it
  • Accountability / commitment to taking action
  • Resonating with the more conservative not-uber-leveraged approach Paula takes

Illustrative of Course Features

  • Step by step
  • Comprehensive
  • Lifetime access
  • Tools, spreadsheets, & templates

Favorite Quotes

  • "Because I've been following Paula for a long time and I trust her. I knew I couldn't just figure it all out on my own. The stakes are too high to"

  • "I wanted to minimize my risk in real estate investing by educating myself. $1000 is a cheat code to save $30k plus over my first few rental purchases."

  • "Because I want RE to be part of my retirement plan but was too afraid to make a 6 figure mistake"

  • "I wanted a resource for understanding how to think about real estate that was more than just formulas"

  • "I followed your blog for several years, then watched you pilot and develop the first course. I read every line you wrote until I had paid off my debt and could afford to purchase the course. I made that choice based on how transparent, analytical and detailed you were in every email, coupled with your personal success. I knew I wanted to learn from you because I wanted to learn how to do it well for the long term."
  • What were some challenges or concerns that were on your radar prior to enrolling that you hoped the course would address?

These are all illustrative of prospective students who've had their eyes on the idea of real estate for a little bit, vs. people who've just been introduced to the idea of real estate as an investment vehicle.

    • How to find a good property [/how to find a good property from afar]
    • How to analyze a property
    • How to identify a good market / location to invest in [/from afar] & understanding the nuances
    • How to build a good & trustworthy team
    • Beginner-driven: How to get started
    • Beginner-driven: Everything — knowing nothing and being unsure where to start; all the unknown unknowns
    • Investing from afar
    • How the currently-super-hot real estate market affects real estate investment & their ability to be successful with it
    • How to manage a property (and tenants) once they've bought it

All of these are covered in the course, and many of these points will be addressed in our free webinars.

    Anecdotal Audience Overview

YFRP is most interesting to people who want to diversify their investment portfolio beyond just stocks & index funds, and are looking to accelerate their FI timeline through the higher returns they can get from real estate investment due to its blend of "part investment, part business."

Most of our students are high-earners and living in relatively high cost of living areas, which pretty much necessitates investing in a city where they don't currently live if they want to get the highest returns possible, as high cost of living areas generally equate to less profitable investment opportunities.

Anecdotally, that's one of the biggest objections we hear from potential students; something like, "But everything in my city is so expensive; there's no way I could afford to invest." — Our webinar about how to invest if you live in a high cost of living area addresses this.

Another common concern people have is wondering if they've "missed the boat" and if it's too late for them to find good deals that can earn money.

Prospective students also tend to have generalized anxiety about making such a large purchase – buying a house is scarier than buying a few shares of an index fund – as well as concerns that they're too busy to take on this new responsibility.

We will cover all of this (and more!) in our webinar series.

We're excited to have you on board!
